Not bad for a while but it has become an Unstable, Unreliable, frustrating router.Have had several episodes over the last 4 months of intermittent band drop off, signal fluctuation over 15 feet from the router. First the 5.0 band became unstable and would not link to any devices beyond 15 feet while the 2.4 band was more stable yet it had signal loss over 20 feet from router.Then after Firmware reload and rebooting it stabilized for a few months. Now it’s worse and even loses Ethernet (Wired) connection to 2 PCs and is again intermittent with signal losses in both bands over 15ft from router. Have reset power too many times to count. Reloaded firmware and rebooted, tried all channels for each band. They ALL have signal loss over 15ft from router ranging from -40dbm at 3ft to -55dbm to -90dbm over 15ft.Have been waiting 36 hours and counting for the phone Tech support request for a Return RMA authorization in Email.May be without this router for 5-10 business days with Amped return process, plus I have to pay for return shipment.Doubt that I will ever buy another Amped product regardless of high reviews.

Loved it at first, but after some time, it became clear that this was not a premium router.Range was nowhere near as advertised.After waiting for months for ANY firmware update, I decided to scrap it.This thing had enough bugs that I was begging support for any update to the firmware.After calling them, they told me that the router is fine and there has not been any reason to release a single update.Since scrapping it, I purchased an ASUS AC5300 and this thing is AMAZING!I live in a 3 story house plus a basement and the speed and range is through the roof.Not a single dead spot anywhere in my house (including the basement).I have only seen a 15% decrease in throughput and that is when I am 2 floors down in the far corner of the basement and that is using an N card (the ASUS supports AC cards and MIMO).IMO, when you buy a router, just stay clear of AMPED.If I could, I would give it -1 stars.RT-AC5300 Tri-Band 4×4 AC5300 Wireless 4-port Gigabit Gaming Router With AiProtection Powered by Trend Micro

First, I had high hopes for this high powered router.I live in a 5 bedroom house, 2 story, 2 of the bedrooms on first floor. The router sits on the wall in my den approximately 60 ft from the front bedroom.It will NOT send a signal to that room.I can get great coverage in the other downstairs bed room, the front room, the kitchen and all the rooms I have wireless computers upstairs.I can even take my Kindle out to the back yard about 100ft to the back fence and get internet and run Netflix.But for some reason it will not transmit a usable signal to that bedroom despite the fact that a TV and a computer in that room can see several of my neighbors networks.I have tweaked the antennas, turned off the 5 gigahertz transmitter, gone through the entire set up and nothing.I have ended up having to hard wire a connection to that room, and run an ethernet switch to get internet in there.Either my 60 year old house has one lead lined room or this router cannot do what it is advertised to do.I have also had a wireless printer go off line more than once sitting just underneath it.I cannot explain it but I have spent more than enough time being frustrated by it’s performance.It has however in the 2 months I have owned it, not failed to give us wired and wireless performance 24-7.

Purchased this router to replace a netgear FVG 318 that recently gave up the ghost.As some of the previous reviewers stated, the antenna design on this amped wireless router is not the best.They are very delicate and poorly made.Good thing that I follow instructions as it is a bit tricky putting together.Range is nowhere near what is advertised, in fact the netgear FVG 318 actually had a very similar range if not a bit better.

On the good side, customer service was very responsive and did send me out a new set of antennas to try to improve the signal range.All in all however, it was not a good purchase.

Save your money! Bought this because they advertise "high power","long range", "10 amplifiers", "high gain antennas", "for a large house" (I have a not large 1900sf house). Set up easy but doesn’t work any better than my old linksys N router as far as range. The AC is very short range, doesn’t work past the room the router is in. So it ends up being a very expensive N router.
And to preempt the Response from Amped; I did call "elite" support, figured no way it can’t even be as good as a 3-4 year old cheap router, i must have some settings wrong. Very disappointed, tech didn’t / wouldn’t go over setting with me, said if its working settings are right, no firmware updates since original build. He was not surprised it didn’t have a better range than old Linksys, said it is max FCC allows and old router is probley the same. Funny thats not how its advertised. Very misleading!
Sent it back! Amazon returns gets five stars.

i ordered this router because it claimed to have stronger signal and better coverage than the one we already had in place. it has neither. i have had nothing but trouble with this router and have to lay out additional money for yet another router to replace it. trying to figure out why my internet was not working the way it had involved a session with time warner, 6 hours on the phone with apple care on two separate days and two professionals coming to the houseto figure out the problem by the rocess of elimination. we finally solved the mystery…it was the router. all this investigating took time and now the 30 day return window has closed and i am stuck with this expensive and ineffective router. the new one works perfectly and i certainly wish i had known more sooner.

I bought this to replace a Linksys E3000 which did not have enough range to reach from my office at one end of the house to my bedroom at the other end of the house. I installed it without problem. I ran around the house and yard with my iPad and saw strong signal strength much further away than I experienced with the E3000. Yeeeha! Well, not for long. After my initial signal strength metering excursion, I actually tried to connect to the web from one of the extreme points in the range. No joy.The amplified signal certainly reaches further than the Linksys but (with some educationfrom the Amped Tech support guys) I soon learned that amplified signal strength does nothing to boost signal from the client device back to the router (duuuh!). So this good product did not initially solve the problem that I initially set out to solve. HOWEVER, the Amped support guys helped me devise a solution that DID solve the problem. They helped me repurpose the unit as a wireless Access Point which I hardwired back to the Cisco router via a switch that I have in my TVroom (which is centrally located). BINGO! I now have max bars and max connectivity from anywhere in the house and at least 100 feet into the back yard.In hindsight, maybe I ought to have bought an access point in the first place. Regardless, I had this unit and didn't want to go throught the hassle of shipping it back and waiting for a replacement to save $20.
Two final points:
First: Remember that even a 10 megawatt transmitter can't pick up a signal from a distant hand held client. You need the antenna to be centrally located or need additional access points or repeaters.
Second: the Amped Wireless Technical Suport team is superb. I worked with Mike, Owen and Anthony. They were all knowledgeable, helpful and patient enough to solve my problem.
I definately recommend thiscompany and it's products.

I was going to try to work things out with this router, but after Amped Wirelss responded to my review and announced that this unit has a maximum broadcast range of 50 to 60 feet, I sent it back.Are you kidding me!They have the gall to call this thing "High Powered" when all it can do is 50 to 60 feet.That is absolutely false advertising! After several test I determined this router to have less then 1/3 the range of my 6 year old Linksys WRT54GS under identical conditions.At first I just thought I got a lemon and was going to try to get it replaced, but after their own tech support admitted openly that this unit was designed to be very weak (as compared to other basic routers like my WRT54GS), I knew I wanted nothing to do with this company.Amazon should require this company to post exactly what the maximum range potential of this unit is in their description and specs.

I bought this router for the exclusive reason that it was promoted as being a "High Powered" router that would give me better signal range.It was to replace an ancient Linksys WRT54GS that was given to me by a friend who had used it for years before upgrading.I have used it for about 3 years now myself so it has had at least 6 years of heavy use. I know it's range and coverage in my house extremely well.After setting up this new R1000, I tested it in the same areas that I have used my old router.In places where I had signal with my WRT54GS that was good enough to stream Netflix video, the signal from this Amped R1000 was so weak I could not even open the Google search page. I have seen no increase in signal range anywhere I have tried over what I had with my old WRT54GS.That is pretty sad.I don't know why manufacturers are allowed to make false claims like this.

Doesn't provide a stronger signal although it is advertised to do so.I used it side-by-side my Linksys WRT54GS2.There was absolutely NO difference in signal strength on my smartphone, tablet and laptops.

Heck, the Linksys router doesn't even have an external antenna and it has the same signal strength at 50 feet.

This product was a disappointment.

I'll add that it frequently "disappears" and stops emitting a WiFi signal.A reboot is required to get it to work.After that, it typically stops transmitting the WiFi signal.

For grins, I also purchased the Amped Wireless external antenna.Still no difference when attached to this router.

It simply doesn't provide any advantage.

I returned it to Amazon today.I'm going to try a Securifi "Almond" extender as it seems to have much better reviews.After this experience, I looked at the "one star reviews"for the Amped Wireless range extender and saw many of the same problems I have.There are several "class problems" with the productthat haven't been corrected.

We decided to install WiFi throughout our church in order to use training videos which are streamed over the Internet.One of the problems we faced is that our church has three levels and has several interior and exterior walls made of cinder block.Because of building design and construction materials we found that it was difficult getting a strong signal to many of our class rooms.We decided to go with Amped routers and extenders because of their output power and because they provide excellent service support.As already stated our building is not very friendly to WiFi signals so intallatoin location was a challenge as was unique programing needs.We ended up installing several repeaters / range extenders and needed help getting everything to work together, hence calling tech support.Amped's tech support is excellect.First off their technicians speak American English, if you are an American you can actually understand what the technician is saying.Not that the technicians in India and else where in the world aren't good at their jobs but sometimes their accents make technical conversation a bit daunting.Another cudo for Amped's technicians is that they are extremely knowledgeable,friendly and so so very patient. (Special praise for Andre, concierge #165 he went the extra mile and then some.)Bottom line, if you have a difficult installation and might need help getting you system up and running Amped is the way to go.

Have always had good luck with my Amped Wireless products but this one seems to have fallen through the cracks.

Back story:
I've owned an older Amped Wireless router for a few years now (the model number eludes me) and it hasn't skipped a beat. I however needed a new router for my family to get them away from the garbage that ISPs force on you to extend their own public wifi networks. Anyway, after having a bad experience with one of the highly reviewed/recommended/cheaper TP-LINK routers, I ended up just ponying up the cash for another Amped Wireless (which wasn't all that much more expensive to begin with but money is money).

Anyway, it worked great. Utilized both the 5GHz/2.4GHz bands as well as a multitude of wired devices...for 11 months. Then the issues started to occur. First, I would notice that many of my devices that I kept on the 5GHz spectrum would drop off/on every once and a while. I didn't think anything of it until a few of my wireless TV sticks would just abruptly stop with a "cannot connect to network." There was a firmware update available so I updated hoping it would fix the problem (so nothing had changed in the 11 months so my outlook was grim). Well it didn't help and wireless connections continued to become more and more unstable. As someone who has a lot of manually setup static IPs, port forwarding rules, etc. it was becoming a real nuisance to factory reset and re-input all of that data (yes you can save/reload the configuration from file but I felt better not trusting an automatic import script to reload my settings).

As for some other issues I've run into:
- Remote WAN management is ALWAYS on. Even if you disable it, it's on (try and connect to your external IP's port 80 with/without the setting checked). I've sent their CS a message about this but haven't received any acknowledgement of it being an issue.
- The only way to disable the above at this time is to set up a manual port forward to an unused IP (kind of a shady work around).
- It runs hot...really hot. I don't have it near other devices/in a cabinet (it'd on an open table) and it still gets hot to the touch. I'm going to blame this as the culprit for my recent issues (11 months of heat doesn't bode well for poorly ventilated devices).

I'm currently in the process of trying to get this RMA'd since it is under 12 month warranty. Hopefully their support isn't terrible.

As the title states, doesn't work well for the most part. This is supposed to have super extended range with high powered antennas. My home is neither big or really small, somewhere in the middle. I bought this router thinking that I would be extending the range that my old ASUS 1700 AC router was weak in because this claims "High-Powered antennas" and about extending range. Not only does this suffer at reaching the previously weak signal areas, the connections that are made to the router with full bars, standing next to the router are sometimes unreliable.

This doesn't even include the gaming aspect. I tried Upnp and DMZ, but my consoles seem to still suffer online connectivity issues while being used simultaneously and one at a time, with me going as far as to actually disconnect the power and wifi on the other devices/consoles. Sometimes chat won't work until you leave and come back (multiple times sometimes). I tried turning off the firewall completely for a few gaming sessions, but apparently that's not even an option. That should be one of the most basic options offered. I'm still not sure why there are no third partys developing firmware for this like they do for some of the other brands.

I've owned 2 RTA1900 units. First one failed after the 1-year warranty. It would broadcast wifi signals on both bands but would not "talk" with the modem and therefore could not provide wifi or Ethernet internet service through the router. I purchased a replacement RTA1900 which was a big mistake. It became a "brick" while doing a firmware update at the direction of technical support while on the phone with an agent. I was offered the option of an RMA to send the unit to Amped Wireless at my shipping expense for repair with a replacement to be sent after my unit was received. I decided to abandon this product and this manufacturer and purchase a different 1900 router from another manufacturer. A 2-year warranty is standard on competitor products.

Very bad product to buy, my First one became a brick after a firmware update over wireless.
They claim to have elite support, the guys over the phone seem high on drugs and didn't evens know what a firmware update is ...
Amazon replaced the items, the second one worked for a week, after that I keep getting modem reboot, disconnection and poor transfer speed over wifi on a short range using 5ghz.
An other big concern for me was the fact that the modem need a reboot for ANY changes that you make in the setting.
Adding a simple firewall rules require a reboot and 60-120sec downtime, need to change dns setting and other downtime ...
I tough this device was for I.T. / Geek guys but definitely not !
the modem my ISP provide is better than this 200$+ hardware

Amped Wireless is a new company. The AC1900 needs some love. It does provide raw power to your wifi however you really need to tweak the settings. If not you will have wifi dropouts. But overall, after my tweaks and toying got the router to be stable yet reliable and fast. Signal wise its pretty good, however the unit does get HOT if you utilized both 2.4 and 5Ghz.
