I got this laptop for my father to replace his old laptop who's obsolescence has rendered it useless.His criteria was it has to be running Windows 7 and he has to have Outlook.

The computer has 4GB of RAM on 1 SO-DIMM, so the first thing I did was order an extra 8GB.Lenovo's Thinkpad line is very good about not including bloatware but if you are like me you will want to remove all the ThinkVantage software because it will often times cause conflicts with the operating system.The first issue I had with the laptop was it refused to connect to WiFi.It saw the networks and would attempt to connect but would fail every time, so I reinstalled the WiFi drivers manually and then it worked.The next problem I encountered was Windows Update would search for updates indefinitely.Once I got over those two hurdles, the laptop started to behave.This was the reason I gave the laptop 4 stars instead of 5; if I didn't know how to effectively troubleshoot and resolve these software problems I could see this laptop being returned as assumed defective.

Minor software headaches aside, the laptop is a great entry-level productivity machine.I personally prefer the old touch pad but this one is surprisingly good and the keyboard is fantastic.You get a Trackpoint with 3 physical buttons as well.It's pretty light and easy to carry.There is one service panel on the bottom, secured with 3 screws, that gives you access to the 2 memory slots, the HDD, WiFi adapter, and CMOS battery, so upgrading is pretty easyIt's upgradeable to 16GB of RAM with 2x 8GB SO-DIMMs.I liked that fact that I could still buy a brand new computer in 2016 with Windows 7 out-of-box.My father's old laptop upgraded itself to Windows 10, against his wishes, and he hates it so I've installed GWX Control Panel to block Windows 10 on this laptop.Windows 7 is slated to continue to receive security updates until 2020 so we wont have to worry about that for a little while.The first thing he said to me about the screen was how excited he was that it is a matte finish screen and not a glossy one.

If you just need an entry level laptop with good upgradability and you not a gamer, then this is your best value for your money.
