Celebration Boutonniere USPS Forever Stamps Sheet of 20 – New Stamp Issued 2017

Last update was on: Wednesday, September 30, 2020

Size:1 Sheet of 20 Stamps

Celebration Boutonniere is a new stamp issued by the U.S. Postal Service. Similar in design to the two-ounce Celebration Corsage stamp, it can be used on RSVP envelopes often enclosed with wedding invitations. It is also perfect for party invitations, thank-you notes, announcements, or any other correspondence. For centuries, boutonnieres—or buttonhole flowers, as they were called in Britain—were a staple of a well-dressed man’s outfit. For most of the 20th century, a single flower pinned to a lapel or inserted into a jacket buttonhole was part of a sophisticated, debonair man’s wardrobe. Today, boutonnieres, still very fashionable, are worn at weddings by the groom, groomsmen, father of the groom, and best man, and at other special occasions, including proms, anniversaries, retirement parties, or military memorial services. Art director Ethel Kessler designed the stamp. The boutonniere was arranged by floral designer Carol Caggiano and photographed by Renée Comet. A Forever stamp, Celebration Boutonniere will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce price.

USPS Forever Stamps Ferns – 100 Stamps (10 strips of 10 postage stamps)

Last update was on: Wednesday, September 30, 2020

A favorite with gardeners and florists, ferns range from tiny moss-like plants to giants as tall as trees. The ferns featured on the stamps are five of the approximately 380 different species found in North America. Each of the five stamps depicts a close-up photograph of a different species of fern. The shapes and textures of the fronds stand out against a stark white background, highlighting the placement of the leaflets along each fern’s stem. The name of each fern-autumn fern, Goldie’s wood fern, soft shield fern, Fortune’s holly fern, or painted fern-is placed vertically in capital letters along one edge of the stamp. Art director Phil Jordan created the stamp art by choosing five images from among dozens of existing pictures by photographer Cindy Dyer. After Dyer isolated the fronds in her photos, providing a white background, Jordan tightened the focus on each to fit within the stamp borders. He rotated some of the fronds to provide visual interest and oriented them in relation to one another to form a unified whole. The Ferns stamps add elegance to envelopes and are an exquisite continuation of the U.S. Postal Service’s tradition of offering stamps that feature beautiful plants. Forever stamps are always equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce price. The piece is presented in an elegant silver-toned frame with gold accents. A dust cover and sawtooth hanger are included on the back for easy display. This listing is for 100 total stamps, in folded strips cut from a longer roll.

This Christmas stamp features a detail of Bachiacca’s oil-and-gold-on-panel painting “Madonna and Child”, which dates from the early 1520s, showing the Christ child clutching a bouquet of jasmine, a symbol of divine love, alongside the Virgin Mary’s profile, left shoulder and right hand.

This painting is part of the Jack and Belle Linsky Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. William J. Gicker served as art director for this stamp, and Greg Breeding was the designer.

USPS Forever Stamps O Beautiful Sheet of 20 Stamps

Last update was on: Wednesday, September 30, 2020

Size:1 Sheet of 20

From Bailey Island on the coast of Maine to the rugged cliffs of Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park in Hawaii, the O Beautiful Forever stamps showcase the extraordinary natural beauty found in the United States. Each of the 20 stamps on the sheet features a photograph that helps illustrate one of five phrases from the famous first verse of “America the Beautiful”: “Spacious Skies,” “Waves of Grain,” “Mountain Majesties,” “The Fruited Plain,” and “Sea to Shining Sea.” The stamps include four national parks, one national seashore, state parks, parks managed by the U.S. Forest Service, and Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. They highlight some of the nation’s hidden gems, such as wheat fields in Wisconsin and Montana, and the lush, fertile landscape surrounding Orinda, California. They also celebrate the country’s ephemeral wonders, including a double rainbow arching over a Kansas field, the aurora borealis lighting up Three Fingers Mountain in Washington, and a quietly stunning spring sunset over the green hills of Livermore, California. First published as a poem on July 4, 1895, “America the Beautiful” was written by poet Katharine Lee Bates (1859–1929) and set to the music of “Materna,” a melody composed by Samuel Augustus Ward (1848–1903). Considered by many to be our unofficial national anthem, the song consists of four verses, each punctuated by the anthemic cry “America! America!” Today it remains one of the country’s most popular patriotic songs. Art director Ethel Kessler designed the pane using existing photographs. O Beautiful stamps are being issued as Forever stamps. These Forever stamps will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail one-ounce price. This listing is for one sheet of 20 stamps

Songbirds in Snow Forever First Class USPS Postage Stamps (20 Stamps)

Last update was on: Wednesday, September 30, 2020

The Songbirds in Snow stamps each features one of four birds: the golden-crowned kinglet, the cedar waxwing, the northern cardinal, and the red-breasted nuthatch. Illustrator Robert Giusti painted the original designs in acrylic on canvas board, depicting each bird perched on a snow-covered branch. He and the art director chose these four birds for their color, attractiveness, and adaptability to the small format of a postage stamp. The cedar waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum) gets its name from its favorite winter food, cedar berries, and the red, waxy tips of some of its wing feathers. One of the few North American birds that thrives on a diet of mostly fruits, the cedar waxwing also consumes the winter fruits of juniper, mistletoe, and crabapple. A spot of bright red against the white of a snowy tree branch signals the presence of a northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis), one of winter’s most colorful and beautiful birds. Cardinals usually appear in pairs but can gather in small flocks during the winter to forage for food. The red-breasted nuthatch (Sitta canadensis), with its distinctive call like a tiny toy horn, prepares well for the season by caching conifer seeds, its preferred winter food. Stashed in cracks and openings in tree bark, the seeds are collected by the bird as it walks headfirst down the trunk.
